A salty sandy tropical retreat

I’m sorry I have been away for sometime now. I was on a mini get-away vacation with Mr.B. We both needed a break for the life here at home. We chose Goa for all its serene beaches and the beautiful old cities, which have some truly impressive architecture that I have seen till date.

Goa was a Portuguese colony from the 16th to 20th Century and you can see the influence in all the architecture. The Velha Goa or Old Goa as it is now known has remarkable Basilicas and chapels that still stand in all their glory. Although you can find a majestic church or chapel just about anywhere.

We are not party animals hence we kept away from the crowd and the boozy nights that are so famous about Goa. We chose to spend our mornings walking on the beach, afternoons taking trips to the old cities and explore the Goan coast and all its other small but equally pleasant beaches. All our evenings were spent on the beach watching the sun change colour and plunge into the ocean. It was strangely satisfying and healing to watch that beautiful scene unfold in front of our eyes, sitting there in the soft sand holding hands with your soulmate.

Goa in summer is like a tropical flower fest. Every house has a garden and every plant is in bloom. Needless to say I went berserk seeing all the colourful, delicate beauties around me. I would go click click click with camera outside people’s houses, which, now that I think about it, must have looked really weird and alarming maybe to others.

I even decided that I would retire to a life in Goa in my declining years. Yes, I know its absurd to think about it at such a young age. But I just fell so much in love with the place. The sound of crashing waves, the pink hues in the skies after sunsets. The blue of the ocean and the fragrances of the gardens and not to forget the landscape littered with mango and coconut trees is all I want before I die.

Here are few more photos of the place and us.
